Fat Heads Brewery (Cleveland, OH)
In honor of the hop harvesting season, we wrap our taste buds around another ‘harvest ale.’ At the peak of hop harvesting season, brewers toss their freshly picked hops into a select, once a year brew. Today’s journey visits Fat Head’s Brewery for their Trail Head Pale Ale. Fat Heads presents a regular offering of their Head Hunter IPA and Bumble Berry Honey Blueberry Ale that can frequently be found around town. The Trail Head is a nice addition to the repertoire.
She pours with a rich and clear copper color. A light, yet frothy head will float atop your glass as you start to enjoy your trail. It has a mild floral aroma that is quite pleasant. As you take your first sip, you’ll enjoy a slightly dry, bitter floral hop taste. The fresh hops will slowly take over your mouth, and slowly grow stronger and stronger. Just as you’re ready for the bitterness to stop growing, it will remain at a point that is optimal for enjoyment. It will coat your mouth for just a few minutes to leave you wanting the next sip, yet waiting for the opportune moment. Every taste will go down slightly smoother than the last, and in the end, leaving you looking for another pint. So, enjoy this brew while it lasts. It will only be around for a short period of time, and is only a kegged offering. So stop by your local craft beer supplier, or a Fat Heads Brewery if you’re lucky. Enjoy yourself a pint or three. Always be safe and enjoy the craftsmanship.
